Whip-Around

Hello,

I wanted to say that I will be able to blog as frequently, or as in depth.  My husband was laid off (thanks to the sequestration), so I will be going back to work as a teacher, and not wiling away my hours blogging while my kids watch Dinosaur Train.  ;-)  I have a lot of stuff to take care of, and my LEGO hobby is not high on that list.

That being said, I will link to a few mosaics I've noticed lately:

Teach Me The Greenhouse Effect, by TheBrickAvenger.

Picasso's Don Quixote

Picasso's Don Quixote, by Arthur Gugick

Bruce brought to my attention this video of a LEGO Logo Mosaic Sculpture by Nick Tatar.

Also, Digger1221 has some fun cheese slope pattern mosaics in this set

Some More Transparent Stacking...

Playing off of Katie's last postBlake Baer recently made a mosaic using the same technique (that is, stacking translucent plates onto each other to form different shades) for his parents' anniversary.
"Matrimony"

The detail that can be achieved using this is really superb. If you're looking to get into these kind of mosaics, check your local Lego Store as their Pick-A-Brick walls usually feature 1x2s that can be bought for a very cheap price. Best of luck to Blake in the MOCAthalon.

The Thin White Duke

To make up for my totally non-mosaic-ky previous post, here is a fantastic rendition of David Bowie as The Thin White Duke, made by Adam Myers (myersac14).

It is made with trans-clear LEGO over a black background.

Here is a close-up to show the detail:

It could totally double as a fantastic iceberg field.  It's amazing how the change of distance and angle really changes my perception of the image.

Adam talks a lot about the persona of the Thin White Duke on his flickr page, which you can find here

Leaf Weaving

The following is a preliminary version of an article that I am writing for HispaBrick Magazine.  I know it's not about mosaics, but.... if you really want some mosaic love, you can check out the tiling on the image of the Pool Party!
